QuarterReads stories – November

This month I’ve posted two new stories on QuarterReads. The first is Plummet, a 500 word short story loosely based on a true story from a friend of a friend. It’s a story I had to re-write a few times until it felt right. The first draft started out as a flash fiction only 200 words in length, but it was too constrained and was forcing me to rush the pacing. As soon as I removed the arbitrary word limit things started falling into place. I wasn’t really sure what to do with the story once I’d finished it, so it has sat on my hard drive for a while now, but then QuarterReads came along and it’s the perfect place for a snack sized tale like this one.

The other story I have posted this month is an expanded version of a previous Flash Friday – Resolution which you can find on QuarterReads here. As I was rereading my old flash entries this is one that jumped out at me as a potential candidate for a more in depth story. Instead of just expanding on the flash tale (like I did with Goto 10) I made the decision to change things up with this longer version, it uses the original as inspiration but goes off in it’s own direction. I’m really pleased with how it turned out, I’m glad that QuarterReads has a 2000 word limit because I could see myself getting carried away with this one!

If you do happen to read either of the stories this month I would love to know what you think in the comments 🙂
